So you think City singing songs about Aberfan is OK? Anti semetic chants aimed at Spurs? Songs about Hillsborough? Just because Celtic sing Anti English and Royal songs you're offended. Having been to both Ibrox and Celtic Park, one set of fans was friendly and welcoming, one were psychotic thugs off their t*ts and there was union jacks everywhere!

I personally can’t remember the last time City sang about aberfan and I’m going back 30 odd years ago ,

as for Spurs they sing anti semetic songs about themselves 🙈

funny I done both aswell and I found totally the opposite and was actually called English scum , seeing I have Irish parents and was christened catholic in Dublin , made me laugh with there Irish flags draped round them with there broad Scottish accents , oh I was actually caused scum in corporate in the bar not by no young chav , good and bad in both I suppose looks like I met the bad

The Aberfan song was regularly sang when playing the Welsh back in the day as was the song about Holloways kids when we used to play Rovers so we are no angels on that front but I would like to think we have moved on from that sort of thing, haven't heard anything of that ilk for years thankfully.

Wow, have you never been to a football match in England? I take it you hate England fans as well! The vile abuse young black players got for missing a penalty was pretty special.

I was chased out of a bar by a (Big)group of Celtic thugs in Barcelona. I was there for a 2008 European Cup tie.

My crime being English among a bunch of Irish Catholic bigots

Longkesh 89 (yes that was his shirt) and his mates would have quite literally beaten me to death if I hadn’t dived in a parked taxi!

Under cover cops have to go to Celtic games to monitor who is taking the money for the cause and where it ends up!!

Glad you had a good experience!

When was the last time there was a major chant about Aberfan or Hillsborough at Ashton Gate? Was there ever one about Hilsborough at Ashton Gate??

Anti semetic chants. Give me a break! Most Spurs fans sing Yidoes themselves and most of them are Christian.

Celtic are a club of people who sing songs about British soldiers give money to the cause/The RA dedicated to killing And maiming British soldiers and some were involved (Longkesh 89 perhaps)

Millwall for informational purposes were a club partially formed by Rangers supporting dockers that came to London to work. That’s why they have the Lion!

Not saying it’s right but James McLean doesn’t help himself tbf ,

and as somebody who ventured to the the old den a couple of times many years ago if that’s all they have got on Millwall fans nowadays it has come on leaps and bounds for all you young uns who do the train to Paddington / London Bridge Bermondsey etc that’s like having a trip to Disney land in a chauffeured limousine, try getting a coach / mini bus and get dropped off half up the old Kent road , then have open terraces to endure and the old bill sometimes actually assisting Millwall , still can be a little unpleasant but not a jot on years ago same as Cardiff another breeze , also remember Newport being very feisty to say the least ( very under the radar many moons back

No doubt it was far worse back in the day, and I’d agree in my recent trips it’s actually been pretty sterile - the last one before this season the ground was half full.

This season was a little “spicier” didn’t help being penned in the car park so the little ***** could throw rocks etc from the walkway - then some idiot dropping one off the bridge as we walked under it.

Police did a decent job with the escort back to the station, it no doubt would have got nasty without them. All the way to the tube there were pockets of Millwall fans at each corner / crossing waiting to see if they could get through.

As I say I’m sure that’s very tame in comparison, but worse than my last 3/4 visits before that.

Idiots on both sides of the Glasgow divide.

I stopped watching England away after France '98 because of the Neanderthal chants of England fans about the Germans, Irish and French (If it wasn't for the English you'd be Krauts)  When it comes to Aberfan i can't remember that chanted against Cardiff since '74, that night there was a record amount of arrests ever made at a football match mainly because of the chant

I don’t know how anyone could sing a song about 100 odd kids dying…..properly low. I’m not sure if it’s true but I heard when this first occurred even the Bristol police were dismayed by it and turned a blind eye to what followed…..I know ccfc are no angels and sang songs like gas a jack at swansea after an ex players gassed himself in his car, but kids? Come on….

Most of the arrests were for Cardiff fans smashing windows in Cumberland Rd after the game, nicked en masse

My recollection was that the Aberfan chant was at a match pre-segregation, so 73/74’ish.

I can remember at the time, even as an early teen, that it crossed a ‘red line’ by a substantial margin and to this day I still find it abhorrent that people would lower themselves to that level of depravity. Think the Cardiff fans responded by singing something about the Swiss air crash, which had many North Somerset victims.

Dark days indeed.

Telling someone they are offended then posting "there was Union Jacks everywhere"!!

How did you manage to get through the day, the absolute horror. Don't watch the news my friend, there are Palestine and Israel flags on show every single minute, you'll end up giving yourself a heart attack.

At what point did I say I was offended. I mentioned the Union flag to identify where I was but hey ho you believe what you want.

I merely said I went to both Ibrox and Parkhead and found the latter much friendlier and welcoming. Às an additional bit of info to further scramble all the anti Irish sentiment on here, both times I went as a guest of the Royal Navy!

*I got stabbed by Italian fans in Turin in 1980, doesn't mean I think they're all the same.*

*Spurs fan don't immitate the hiss of gas as I have heard both Chelsea and West Ham do.*

*As I have said, there a lot of unsavoury things said and sung at matches it doesn't warrant the blanket hatred of that particular club.*

I found the opposite to be the case. Rangers fans have always been great to me; while I have had strip lights thrown at me through bus windows  by the other lot. Had they been allowed off the bus I am sure I would have been killed.

Directly after an Old Firm game mind, which Rangers won 5-1.

The behaviour of the Rangers fans who came to the friendly match at AG a few years ago was impeccable. Celtic fans have a history of antagonising fans in England by singing provocative songs (Lee Rigby when they visited Sunderland FFS) ; and behaving badly. Shouting abuse at troops who were parading at Arsenal another example.

The in-line responses are a pain to respond to

However. You said “So you think City singing songs about Aberfan is OK? Anti semetic chants aimed at Spurs? Songs about Hillsborough?”

Direct quote as above.

When was the last time a song was seriously sung about Aberfan at AG?

(It’s rhetorical don’t bother answering)

You now agree that the Hillsboro/Spurs songs are not sang at AG. Glad to help with what you didn’t say!

You got stabbed in Turin lucky you. Did they have a whip around to make sure the job was done properly? Or was that about random football violence

I don’t even remember the last time the  hissing thing was heard at WHU or Chelsea. I’m pretty sure they will get the same response that Millwall got from the FA and probably more if it happens again The Premier League is televised everywhere

However on behalf of all my Jewish friends and relatives thanks for your support at this difficult time for everyone!

Haha, ask the residents of Manchester and Birmingham what they thought of visits from Rangers fans

While I despise football violence, and I’m sure the Sunderland fans were up to all sorts as well, I must confess to a guilty chuckle when a bunch of Celtic fans went looking for trouble and one of them was knocked out by a Sunderland fan, and was put in the recovery position with his head gently resting on a Union Jack pillow.

Seems odd to sack him but I know more and more fans were getting disillusioned with the quality of the football. Sure he will get another job very soon

I suspect the former owners son is probably got someone lined up. Would not be suprised if we dont see an American coach coming in. They have never really been successful in english football.

I don't think its 100 percent right to lump a whole fanbase in with some bad apples. I know a Millwall fan who is the nicest guy you would ever want to meet. My brother follows Celtic(Did a study abroad thing in Glasgow several years ago) and even he gets irritated with how hardcore  some of their fans get about non football issues.

Quite sure there are some idiots in our own fanbase who get carried away with non football stuff. I don't let it get to me.

It’s sliding doors for Gary Rowett. Millwall went into the final day of last season where a win would be enough for a top-six finish. They led Blackburn 3-1 at half-time, only to collapse to a  4-3 defeat to  miss out on the chance of promotion. In a parallel universe Millwall won the Blackburn match and subsequently the playoff final and Rowett was a hero.

I sang it as an 11yo, and I'm from a Welsh family, Mum is Welsh. I sang it because everyone else was sing it

Glad they were identified. Hope an example is made of them. I am sure the hugs majority of Millwall fans will be disgusted with them. I heard someone at Leicester away trying to get a chant going about it and someone at Cardiff away trying to get a Sala chant going.  Both times when we were losing. I ALMOST feel sorry for people who carry that much hate.
