Mr Popodopolous
Looked at it and theree are a few key metrics for the sesson and perhaps as a baseline to look at Manning. League Only- this season, us Mostly NP and the continuity game with Fleming. *Win ratio- 40% (6 from 15) *PPG- 1.40 (21 from 15) *Points better off at this stage last season- 3 (21 v 18) *Points better off from equivalent fixtures- 5. ie We lost all 3 away to promoted sides so losing at Leeds and Leicester remains the same, 6 from 3 home games vs the sides who came up from League One last year vs 5 from Wigan, Blackpool and Reading. All this in the midst of continued cost cutting, austerity and a considerable injury list, especially in October. Not checked the relative GD stats yet but Manning inherits a stable position, his remit is to improve. Hell even maintaining this baseline would see a significant improvement in May. ExiledAjax
It's really split into two parts as well. There's the first tranche of 7 games up to and including Plymouth. Then there's the games from Leicester onwards where we've struggled for well documented reasons. 4 minutes ago, Mr Popodopolous said: the continuity game with Fleming I would happily watch a teatime quiz show called "The Continuity Game with Fleming" where Curtis and guests gamely compete to spot continuity errors in films and TV shows. Tougher run of games, injuries biting. The only real inexplicable one in that period was the collapse v Stoke. They wanted rid, had we lost to Coventry I expect it would have been then. However Manning needs to make a fairly fast start then see how he can maintain, at the very least the standards and solid base he inherited. For me the next manager's remit is to get back to the performances and points return across those first 7 games. Those first 7 saw us dominate games by roughly 0.3 xG on average, and we returned 1.7 PPG. Whoever he is will get some way toward that simply by virtue of returning injured players (assuming no further big injuries come in). So it's his challenge to build on that and get us back to that so that when we next have a tough run, we're in a position to get an extra point or two from it.
Mr Popodopolous
A couple more. No this isn't a judgment after 1 game. GD was 1 better off after 15 this year vs last. GD for respective games. 3 better off after 15. This was pre QPR. Post it's down to plus 1 point overall, plus 3 from equivalent fixtures. GD 1 worse verbatim, 1 better game v game. Mr Popodopolous
Manning needs 7 points from the next 4 to match the 8 from 5 or 5 from 4 to match game by game equivalent fixtures after Saturday. Albeit if we are talking about number of PPG verbatim without regard for the opposition 1 from 4 will suffice.
