I thought they had to give 2 weeks notice of a strike day.

GWR aren't on strike that day (they are later that week), but their ASLEF drivers are part of a nationwide refusal to work overtime that runs from the 1st to the 9th Dec which was announced a couple of weeks ago.

Most of the train companies rely on overtime to be able to run their services, particularly at weekends, so it will cause a lot of disruption.

Just a heads up,and I would not want to put any one off not traveling anywhere by train

but with the ongoing rail dispute,

I have heard that traincrew will not be volunteering to work on Sunday 3rd December 2023

Just bumping this, as it is an important reminder for Sunday

Nearer the time exact information will be available from here Realtime Trains

confused as you can still book a ticket back from Bristol to London and it’s not a GWR strike day.

It's not a strike day, but there's no overtime being done

Most Sundays are covered by this

The services back from London a few weeks ago for work was a nightmare on one of these days

3 days notice. Even for strikes this is a first. 🤯

Also GWR has run a reduced intercity service on every prior strike day, why suddenly not now. Something is very fishy here. Is it the GWR management Xmas party on Sunday?

Sunday isn’t a strike day, it’s a withdrawal of not contractural overtime. I think the plan is just to run local services with such a small amount of drivers available.
