  • The title was changed to Forever Bristol City Podcast - BLACKBURN [A] the verdict .... we played well for 20 minutes then he changed it!!

Really enjoyed this episode and thought Dave Fevs was excellent on it; both in terms of the analysis of the more nuanced tactical stuff, and in challenging Ian when he basically said its Nige's fault for getting sacked. Its a shame that debate didn't get a bit more space, because I have a feeling that the Pearson decision is going to put us back in League 1 sooner than a lot of people think so it needs to be fully unpicked....maybe we can have round 2 soon.

Ian is in denial and it's hilarious, he will spin anything going forward now to make out it's Nigel's fault. I have listened to the pod for the past 3 years and he never gave Nige a chance when he took the job despite taking over arguably one of the worst City's teams in the last 25 years.

Fans like him have got what they wanted, they better hope LM succeeds.

Ian is a good broadcaster/podcaster:  good diction, nice turn of phrase, and articulate with a clearly argued point of view. He makes me laugh, not necessarily because he’s trying to be funny but because he’s so irascible and opinionated. He’s the best aspect of the podcast, even if you disagree with his opinions. I too would liked to have heard more of Ian discussing matters with Dave F.

Yep. That’s what makes the poddy work a lot of the time. Ian is right about 70% of the time. But sometimes he talks some utter shit that makes people come back, just to hear what bollox he’s going to say next!

His dislike and constant calls for Pearson to be fired were laughable and the others would follow at arms length.

I’m sure this bloke (Manning) will get backed by Ian relentlessly as he is all about the I told you so moment! Bless him!

Do you know the dumbest part!

We just so happen to be missing a quality, creative attacking midfielder. I mean who knew!!!

They also cost money, i mean who knew!!

....

Before "the change" while it often wasn't pretty. They were tactics built to suit the players available. (And yes sometimes it went too far, see over the top for bell in a way too predictable way) with an understanding it was a building block to bigger and better future. Even if in reality it was one step back from last year due to creativity lost.

Since "the change*  Up to this point, we've exposed our very own weaknesses more than we've affected positive change.  We have control, we seem to be in the game.... And then chaos chimes in and the games got away. (The is not by chance)

I'd like to think... LM has seen with the current players available, in our best parts of games, whether it be counter v Southampton, or plan B v Blackburn... The success was in forward intent football NOT control. But he's so embedded to control I suspect he'll live or die by it. (And that's where the accusation of changing too much in one go comes in)

Time will tell.

Very interesting thoughts TT, especially the bit in bold.  I’m intrigued to see how this plays out.

By comparison I just went and listened to the 3 peeps podcast. The difference is night and day. They may aswell just hand the podcast over to JL and BT, the output would be the same.

It's almost as if they have Barton sat there telling them what to say.

There is definitely an emphasis on positives on that pod and that its firmly the players that are to blame and not the management.

Yes, I know. The poor man's Phil Tottle with a shit porno tash. Nothing more than a bloke on the radio reporting on what we'd just been watching. Not that anyone listened to gwr anyway.

But "seasoned presenter"? Of what?

Goodness me, you've a good memory!! I had that from 1981-1999 😆. Poor man's Phil Tottle - now that is an insult. You're not an ex-candidate of mine that I didn't include on a shortlist for a role you applied for, hence the veiled personal insults.

Ian was described as a "spouting Hobbit" in one of the comments on our You Tube channel 🤣. He's our Piers Morgan - love him or hate him!!!

And that is the difference between us and them - you can't run with the hare & chase with the hounds. Oh the joy of independence & free speech!!!

Your hosting skills are very good Dave

I thought you hosted / controlled  this one with the proper debate going on particularly well.

Ive never done it but I’m absolutely sure it’s like commentating , something that is a lot harder to do than it looks to anyone who’s not tried it.

A good episode. @Davefevs made a big difference in providing an analytical perspective on what happened on the pitch rather than just the emotional view on the match.

Would have liked the debate play out with Ian and Dave. Agree with comments above that Ian will back LM till the cows come home due to his dislike for NP.

I remember a few weeks ago I queried possibly due to Ian on Manning the full Independence of FBC. Not independence in a bought off way more like independence in too quick to instinctively defend a club position.

Listened to a few since, happy to say I was wrong- ofders a good range of views, the club leaning one is definitely 3 Peaps.
