Popular Post Silvio Dante
Bloody legend. I remember Joes home debut which I think was against Doncaster. We won 5-0 and Walshie scored a hat trick but he was nowhere near MOM as Joe was that good. And as I said the other day, if he doesn’t move to Hearts we would have been promoted. That 89/90 season is one of the best teams city have ever had. Pace down one wing with Smith, guile down the other with Gavin, Super Bob and carnage up top. Gary Shelton and Rennie bossing the midfield, Psycho Humphries and Biff at the back, Johnny Bailey, Andy Llewelyn, even Sinclair was ok (preferred leaning). If you weren’t there, you can have no idea how exhilarating it was. ”Pick….that one out of the net you boys from Crewe” 14 1 1

We had no schoolboy / youth system when he took over following the crash, and he spent many evenings , and time , to drive a plan and improvement to rectify this , with our first version of an academy.
spudski
Jimmy Mann's and Famara's birthdays too. Loved big Joe. Is he still living in Bristol. When he was here I used to chat to him regularly when in the Italian in Clifton.

reddogkev
He was the manager when I first started watching in the early 90's and as such will always be a legend. Happy Birthday Joe, I'd have you on the City board right now if possible!

Rossi the Robin
That 89/90 team was something else I don’t think I’ve really seen a city team come close

TV Tom
He was, what a day that was, a shame about the 5-1 defeat at Cambridge in the next round keeping us out of the quarter finals, also bizarrely lost 6-0 at Tranmere in the league earlier in the season

GrahamC
Mad to think he’s in his seventies. Last time I saw him around he was still as fit as a butchers dog. Great times in his first spell & as he had kept his family home here ever since, clearly has great affection for the city.

whooosh
One of my most favourite away days, ex gas keeper Martin Thomas was terrified of the mass support behind him in the 2nd half, and we went top of the table too, brilliant

If we had played R####s when we were suposed to if remember correctly around Christmas time and not in the spring when Superbob was injured we would have won that division that year. Saying that i work with a ex R####s player from that season and he is convinced that them beating Cardiff at Twerton when they were one nil down going in to stoppage time and they scored two goals in his words that he was amazed stood won them the league that year.
