1960maaan
Given as no Penalty , booked the Ivory Coast striker for diving before VAR restored some sense , you don't hear that often. I just burst out laughing when I saw it, bad enough not giving a Pen at once, but booking the lad for getting wiped out was hilarious. bcfcredandwhite
I’ve said before on a number of VAR related threads that VAR could be an asset to the game if it was applied properly. It’s unpopular because we apply it wrongly. 7

wybmadwity
A wrong decision, corrected. Not "The worst decision ever".
Steve Watts
I'll buck the trend here. I agreed a dreadful decision until I saw this angle. Looks to me by his body shape and the positioning of his legs that he's preparing to go down. There's no attempt to ride the challenge. Instead he's brought both of his legs together and planted them to ensure the contact. My guess is that this is the angle that left the VAR refs unconvinced that it was a clear and obvious error. (That, and the obvious brown envelope will have helped as well I suppose!) 1

What grinds my gears most with Prem VAR is that every goal is scrutinised before the game restarts to see if it can be ruled out , killing the celebrations. How negative is that ?? VAR should never be used this way !

My suggestion for VAR is that the referee can request it like in Rugby and Cricket. If a player wants to ask for VAR when he believes a decision was wrong, he can request it, under the threat of a yellow card for time wasting if the original decision stands. He would need to be absolutely certain in order to request it. I think that would stop a lot of cheating and diving - plus allow the game to flow.
Markthehorn
Footballers would probably be as bad as our cricketers are at the appeals ! Trouble is whatever decision gets made with or without VAR someone won’t like it or accept the final outcome . People expected VAR to almost be perfect and you’d never have debated decisions again but certainly hasn’t proved to be like that. If anything it’s probably got worse and then you throw in the other factors fans particularly don’t like about the system so really it’s been a mess .
