Geesus the City fan
Now that seems a little strange to me, anyone else wonder why our quickest most dangerous player is a defender at all and not waiting for the counter attack up front? Having not seen a game yet ( ) its difficult for me to comment on our aerial ability but it doesnt sound too good from reports and radio coverage. The balance of the team seems to be the biggest gripe held on both this forum and with the media so lets hope Swindle dont win a corner on satur.... ureds ps City 3 - 1 Swindle
Riaz
certainly does seem strange to me too, surely he's more effective standing on the halfway line, in order to catch the opposition on the break......

Murray has always been the one to set up counter attacks and heff ain't big enough to mark.

Murray is better running at defenders not with his back to goal hence loitering at the edge of the area is a better option imo From the sounds of things i'm not sure what Heff is big enough for!? ureds
buanryoh
We are in a bit of a pickle arent we if we need a pacey forward like lita defending on set pieces/ corners whatever. Although he does jump like a man possesed. This is more concerning seeing as we are weak on set pieces already, and our lack of height with the majority of our players is def worrying. Doesnt your heart skip a beat everytime the other team put in a cross low or high? E.g. last season against harletpool at aston gate. Lets hope we dont get too many larger teams this season. How many forwards to we need in our box defending anyway, i'd say 1 at the most, and Miller we be a better option imo.

And after watching Huddersfield v Hartlepool on Sky this week i fully expect them to replicate their successes of last seasons. Worrying indeed as this division is (and always was) awash with big physical teams..... ureds
Red Sinjen
Footballing tactical masterclass!!!!Carl Fletcher = 6ft+ Giant, Leroy Lita = Smallest player on the pitch. Tells me something needs tweaking at the back. Miller the heading specialist to defend! Although he might do a strikers header and head in down to the path of the oncoming forward, only joking! Is MIller than man to solve our defensive problems? Perhaps he is the second coming! Miller and Lita to start saturday!

I'm definately not saying it is ideal at the moment. I would just rather Lita play a more defensive role. As for Heff, he doesn't need to be big to play the goalscoring role. He just needs to score goals!!!

So true height isnt everything when it comes to being a good striker i.e. Andy Cole, Glyn Riley, Bob Taylor wasnt huge.... However some Nads does help. Gillespie has shown more guts than most of the squad in his brief time at the Gate, and he knows where the net is. Who was it that said that defence starts with the forwards.... well most TV pundits thats for sure but what do they know? If its 3 up front then Miller, Lita and Gillespie gets my vote (4wiw). ureds
GrenadaRed
I was at Bournemouth on Saturday and can tell anyone who wasn't there that we looked terrible defending almost every corner. So based on Saturdays selection I would say that the main 5 people chosen to mark at corners should of been: 1. Hill 2. Coles: 3. Fortune 4. Smith 5. Orr Surely you use your defenders/taller players. Miller should also come back to use his height to defend corners. Lita is a great jumper but is still short and apart from that is a pacy goalscorer. Why on earth would you select him as one of your top 5 markers when you have other options?
