harvey54
One of the players I admired growing up. Magical, mercurial and never out of the bookies. I loved players liked Stan. Tony Currie, Duncan Mackenzie, Alan Hudson. And later Glenn Hoddle. A character an entertainer and a bloody good footballer. 1

Another one of the people that got me into loving football slips away. RIP Stan, you`ll never be forgotten.

Bedred31
I was at the game at the Gate when he was injured and the ambulance drove onto the pitch. Seems like yesterday. Astonishing player- sad news. Rest in peace, Stan.
harvey54
Maverick. God I'd love to be known as a maverick. George Best was my first hero. Got taken to Old Trafford in 69 to watch him play. Gazza was brilliant and similarly flawed. The game is poorer without these players. Stan was a diamond Edited February 24 by harvey54
Norn Iron
Posted on other thread in General Chat. Nooooo! It is right to use the word legend for Stan. How true is it that when he broke his leg playing us at AG, the St John's Ambulance took him off, they then left him in the car park? Myth or fact? Out of the corner of his eye he saw Norman Hunter trundling towards him and he stopped dead in his tracks. I don't think anyone in the ground blamed him either.
