Martyn Hocking
When the previous board moved to appoint Tony Fawthrop as manager, our one-time chairman Scott D. quit because (to paraphrase) "no other club in the country would have appointed this bloke as manager, so why should Bristol City?" Apply the Fawthrop test to our new manager, and I fear you get the same result - no other club at our level would have taken a gamble on appointing Brian Tinnion as their manager. Apply the same test to Ian Atkins, however, and I fear that you get a very different result. And look where the Gas are in League 2 right now... nofx
I think TomF is correct here. The board were split over whether they should appoint Pulis or Peter Taylor!! Dear Oh Dear!! Agree with the point, however.

Guest TinmansCulturedLeftPeg
I think we should be grateful that we're not in the division below....

Guest TinmansCulturedLeftPeg
Mark McGhee and Joe Royle both would of managed us....Peter Taylor publicly stated that he would be "flattered" if he was chosen as Bristol City manager! But it was infact Brian Tinnion who was the favourite to be our manager four years ago,it looked like Tinman was going to be manager for the 2000/01 season until DW came into the frame....!
