I can still see it coming towards me in the East End. Must have been about 35 yards out. Well_Red
Guest Tom Taylor
It was a fantastic strike - never to be forgotten. For young'uns, the game was at the Gate on 22 September 1979 against Nottingham Forest in the old First Division and finished 1-1 in front of a crowd of 22,759. The City side was John Shaw, Trevor Tainton, Clive Whitehead, Gerry Gow, Gerry Sweeney, Geoff Merrick, Tony Fitzpatrick, Tom Ritchie, Kevin Mabbutt, Jimmy Mann, Peter Cormack sub: Joe Royle
