Martyn Hocking
Log on to the Rovers website this morning and you are greeted by an image of three supporters (half the average home crowd) cheering on the boys in blue. In their scarves and bobble hats they really capture the spirit of this traditional family club. Or do they? Scroll down a few lines and you discover the following story: "ATKINS CHARGED BY THE FA The Football Association has today confirmed that Rovers manager Ian Atkins has been charged for three breaches of FA Rule E3. The alleged offences were said to have occurred during the Pirates' 2-2 draw with Yeovil Town on Tuesday evening. FA Rule E3, which is new for the 2004/05 season, reads as follows: "A participant shall at all times act in the best interests of the game and shall not act in any manner which is improper or brings the game into disrepute or use any one, or a combination of, violent conduct, serious foul play, threatening, abusive, indecent or insulting words or behaviour." Details of the three charges are as follows: In the players' tunnel at half-time, he used abusive and/or insulting words towards Yeovil Town players At the end of the fixture, he used abusive and/or insulting words towards the Yeovil Town manager During the same incident, his conduct was improper in that he had to be physically restrained from confronting the Yeovil Town manager" What a nice man he sounds, and what a great role model for those kids who have made the tragic mistake of supporting the Gas Well_Red
