It Has To Be 2 Points A Game From Now Until May

If 82/83 points is what it takes to secure the no.2 slot then nothing less than an average 2 points per game will do between now and the end of the season if we are to avoid the lottery of the play offs once again.

Our present position in view of us having a new manager and a markedly changed side from last term is credible but now draws must be turned into victories.

The past 2 seasons have been "rescued" by 2 elongated consecutuve win spells which were good enough to put us up after poor starts were they not followed by equally poor periods of massive loss of form [the new years day defeat at Wycombe in 2003 started a run of 4 points from 24 and it went pear shaped after Sheffield Wed last term with 4 from 21 points]

Quite honestly I'd be happy with, say, the next 10 games reading something like 6w 2d 2L and that repeated 3 times should do the trick.

On reflection who would care if we finished 6th on goal difference on the last day of the season on a good run of form then busked it through the playoffs on penalties in the semis and final !!

Despite the insane optimism of some on here who seem to think every player we have in our squad is a world beater and that they "would walk into any other team" I think that realisticly automatic promotion was out of the window after only 5 games.

Whilst Tins "hit the ground running" we picked up just 2 points from those games, whilst he fiddled with formations and players in a pretty haphazard way.

One defeat in 10 does suggest we are now much harder to beat and it doesn't actually matter whether we finish sixth or third this season as long as we make the play off lottery again.

Third time lucky?
