In Line With Inflation?

Having recently had a bit of a tidy up. I found one of my old books hidden away, covered in dust. 'The official football league yearbook - 1992'

page 68 - Bristol City

Admission prices:

Dolman Stand Adults £9, OAP/Juv £6

Schoolboy Enclosure Adults £5, OAP/Juv £4

Enclosure Adults £7, OAP/Juv £6

Covered End Adults £5.50, OAP/Juv £4

Uncovered End Adults £5, OAP/Juv £4

Season Tickets

Dolman Stand Adults £170, OAP/Juv £120

Enclosure Adults £130, OAP/Juv £110

Programme £1

So is all this in line with inflation? as we are led to believe after every hike in prices.

92 was probably just at the start of the real hike in ticket prices. After Hillsborough football went all "blue chip" and there was a huge gap in social groups so they started to cash in.

The one about inflation and football that strikes me the most is players wages. If match day prices had gone up at the same rate as the increase in players wages we would be paying something like £45 for a adult ticket.

Colin Sexstone is reading!!

He was, until he found out that the battery in his calculator was flat, and ran out of fingers calculating the price percentages between '92 and today!!, :city:

Still, with ALL the entertainment on and off the pitch, City really are value for money!!,

As someone pointed out, juvenile prices are actually less now in the Dolman!

Plus there was no "under 19" price in '92, which are only £10 now...

Also the complete "gentrification" of football as a whole has changed everything, added to the fact that people in this country and ESPECIALLY Bristol are a lot richer than they were in '92. I think the prices now are pretty fair.

The cheapest ticket at West Ham to watch Championship football is £25...
