Slave to the rhythm
Australia have named ten British-based players in their squad to take on Norway at Fulham's Craven Cottage next Tuesday. Tim Cahill, the Everton midfield player, and Birmingham winger Stan Lazaridis return to the squad after missing the two-legged Confederations Cup qualifier against the Solomon Islands through injury. Also in the squad are Middlesbrough duo Mark Viduka and Mark Schwarzer, Liverpool forward Harry Kewell, Blackburn pair Brett Emerton and Lucas Neill, plus Crystal Palace defender Tony Popovic. Danny Tiatto of Leicester and Cardiff's Tony Vidmar make up the British contingent in the Socceroos squad. Frank Farina, the national team coach, said: "It is very competitive for places in the team, so some tough decisions will have to be made but we'll be putting the best possible team out on the park." Guest Tactical Genius
Good. TG does not want Luke to catch anyone's eye, or get injured whilst on international duty.

deadratinmycider
He's on standby, I believe. He will be drafted in if there are any injuries or withdrawals.
Collis
I wonder if the Aussie manager has even looked at him recently
City Exile
Saying he has been dropped may be a little harsh. Yes he played for them during the Olympics, but I think I am right in saying that is essentially an under 23 side, due to their rules?

BCFC_Dan
He's on standby. Which is fair, as he only played before because Cahill was injured. Cahill is now fit and has rightly got his place back.

bcfc seattle
Well I hope he takes it the right way and thinks "okay, I've got to get better" then goes out and does it.
Guest bristolbred
He hasn't been dropped!! The Aussie Coach knows what an impact he has had this season, since returning to the squad, and feels he will be much more appriciated by the warmth of the Ashton Gate faithful, than by a load of tax dodging Aussies, and has-been Vikings at Craven Cottage!!,

Guest ErringtonKelly
Let's hope it doesn't work against us, with him thinking "I must get to a higher standard ASAP".................. I agree. Eight of the UK based players picked by Australia play in the Premiership and the other two are in the Championship. Luke may well be thinking that playing in League One is doing him absolutely no favours.
