GrenadaRed
I am amazed that after years of being a dreadful kicker of the ball, Philipps has not been coached and managed to improve this aspect of his game. He often kicks it first time despite the fact that he isn't being rushed. Most of the time this ends in a throw-in or a wasted opportunity. I acknowledge that his kicking out of hand has improved and he is now getting some real distance which can add good pressure, but his kicking off the floor is still abysmal. How come the coaches and various managers have let him get away with it? Is Stowell still responsible for coaching the keepers? If so then what do they do every day that prevents them from sorting this out? As we all know Steve is a great shot-stopper. Sorting out his kicking should be the easy bit to resolve. Then he still has the big challenge of becoming a dominant keeper in charge of his area. I used to think Philipps was poor, but he has gradually won me over. However his kicking is inexcusable.
