RedUn Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 After some of the carp we've had to put up with in the name of pre-match entertainment what a pleasant change it was to hear someone who can actually sing. And the welcome back he gave the team for the second half was so good it deserves to become a permanent feature. Obviously a City fan - what does anyone know about him? Nessun Dorma English translation No One Sleeps, No One Sleeps Even You, O Princess, In Your Cold Room, Watch The Stars, That Tremble With Love And With Hope. But My Secret Is Hidden Within Me, My Name No One Shall Know, No, No, On Your Mouth I Will Speak It When The Light Shines, And My Kiss Will Dissolve The Silence That Makes You Mine. Vanish, O Night! Set, Stars! Set, Stars! At Daybreak, I Shall Conquer! I Shall Conquer! I Shall Conquer!
Godzilla Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 Yeah, I've got to agree with you there. It was nice to have something a bit different and the welcome to the 2nd half had classical fans applauding and everyone else laughing and cheering. Went down well. Pat on the back for the club on providing some half decent matchday entertainment for a change.
Club and Country Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 Yer, when he first started to sing there was a few laughs by me in the ateyo, then everyone realised how good he actually was, and his introduction for the team in the second half, made most give him a standing ovation fair play to him
potbelly Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 Mario Lanza is alive and living in Knowle. Agree with Red Un. Top quality entertainment and nice to see it appreciated by the Bournmouth fans too.
potbelly Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 I don't want to be thought of as a esteemed dignitary but do I love opera. B) esteemed dignitary
wesco Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 Not a great fan of that type of music but really enjoyed it and it wa snice to see the fans show how much they liked it. I can't recall anone else singing at ashoton gate and getting a reseption as good as that
Bat Fastard Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 I agree with Pink'un It was a pity that we could not hear the music in the Dolman - but the voice was fantastic!
Dave L Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 Reply to potbelly Wait 'til 'DaveL' reads that I like opera And that I also like ballerinas The Goblin revealed!!! Clearly you are a working class traitor and a esteemed dignitary-loving running dog paper tiger tutu wearing opera singing wuss bucket. I suspect you secretly like Tony Blair as well, and are also a big fan of Bristol City council.

Guest Dolman Moaner Posted December 29, 2003 Posted December 29, 2003 I know a little bit about him. He is indeed from Knowle (Inns Court I think) and is trying to make it in the opera world, whatever that means. His brother is also trying to make it on the European pro golf circuit and I sometimes see him mentioned in the Evil Post. Sanders is their surname, although their first names escape me. Gary and Lee ? Hearing Nessun Dorma always brings up the hairs on my neck and takes me back to Italia 90. Although, the climax was kind of ruined in the Dolman due to the sound system packing up.
TinnionForEngland Posted December 29, 2003 Posted December 29, 2003 I felt so ashamed of some of our fans when a VERY SMALL section of fans who were stood next to him saying ###### off you sad c###.
Mr Ed Posted December 29, 2003 Posted December 29, 2003 Well worth inviting him back. Perhaps he could sing some operatic versions of other chants e.g. One Team in Bristol, Drink up ye Cider, Stand up if you hate the Gas etc.
Taz Posted December 29, 2003 Posted December 29, 2003 I can't stand that type of music, however I have to admit he was very good. Deserved the applause he received, and I would be very surprised if we did not see him down the Gate again sometime.
