1997 All Over Again

Eight years ago with 8 games left saw Ward's first game in charge after Jordan's sacking.

City were on 57 points and in 9th

The results went like this :

Gillingham H 0-1

Luton A 2-2

Bury H 1-0

Wrexham H 2-1

York A 3-0

Plymouth H 3-1

Chesterfield H 2-0

Wycombe A 0-2

I saw all those bar the York match and it was typical City losing at lowly Wycombe in the final match - an inept performance like so many we have seen this season !! Had we won we'd still have played Brentford in the playoffs but with the advantage of the 2nd leg being at home

But 5 wins 1 draw and 2 defeats took us to 73 points and 6th. I reckon a similar rune this campaign and we'll do it.

I've been highly critical of so much this season but as a person who loves the club come what may you have to have hope don't you ? !!

They finished level on 73 points with Swindon in 5th and Port Vale in 7th. Port Vale were in 6th this time last year with 60 points from 39 games. We have one point less than Hartlepool had this time last year and the 6th placed team has a game in hand compared to last year. But if we beat Bournemouth and it comes down to goal difference we're well placed on that score.
