Admin Ian M Posted January 8, 2004 Admin Report Share Posted January 8, 2004 Interesting to see that Landon Donovan (the US's best player at the Korea/Japan World Cup) is on merely £3500 a week! I reckon there could be quite a few bargains in amongst that lot. I've pointed SteveL in the direction of that list in any case

bcfc seattle
The higher salaries are misleading as they often have side contracts that pay more than their playing salaries (for promotion and the like) Also for many of the National team players their sponcers increased their endorcement deals for them to keep playing in the US. i.e. Donovan went from 50k a year to 750k from Nike when he moved from Germany to the US. On a side note Fulham just signed one of the guys I was trying to convince City to go after Carlos Bocanegra He's quite good.
bcfc seattle
what the heck is this Project 40 stuff they are always babbling about Project-40 was a responce to kids who wanted to sign without going to college/University first. They are paid a lower salary but are guarenteed money for college/university if they decide to go later in life. Many current stars came through the project-40 program. i.e. Tim Howard was one of the first ones.
