jimtastic
Experienced manager Wilson brought the team home in 7th back in 2001/02. If things stay the way they are, Tinnion will bring the side home in 7th in his first season as a manager.I don't remember Wilson taking anything like as much stick for 2001/02 as Tinnion's taken for this season...Wonder if Tinnion would have taken so much flak if we'd been nearer the top throughout the season, then dropped away? robins72
You should know that when the chips are down the manager always gets the rap. With it being a rooky manager like Tinnion he was bound to get stick. Not that I agree with it all though.

SimplyRed
Why do people keep comparing Wilson's first season to Tinnion's? The circumstances were entirely different.Wilson was an experienced manager and was, almost without exception, welcomed when he took over. And the club didn't promise promotion in his first season. Everyone knew he would need to rebuild.Tinnion took over amid controversy. He was not a popular choice. He was inexperienced. Yet the club stated he would carry on where Wilson left off and that anything less than promotion would be deemed a failure. We now know that this rhetoric was purely to sell Season Tickets, because once it became clear that Tinnion didn't have a clue, it became a 'transitional' season. It's not about where we finished, it's about where we were when we started the season. And we are certainly a far poorer team now.
