The Man In Black
People need to face up to the fact that kids are having sex. And that isn't going to change unless there is a change in society towards sex, and the media stops splashing it everywhere.Since I doubt that will happen, contraception is the way forward. Unfortunately some people think that an uncomfortable teacher in front of thirty 13 year olds pointing to diagrams of male and female genitalia is a good solid grounding in how not to get pregnant.I don't think giving a kid a condom is going to make them want to have sex any more then seeing all the posters, ads, TV shows, magazines etc. that they see everywhere that make them think that everyone is having sex but them... I think adults forget about all these influences when they get up in arms up ideas like this.At the end of the day if my child was having sex at a young age I would be concerned that they were using protection, and that they were psychologically prepared for it.I would say get some professionals in who know what they're talking about to discuss issues, contraception, psychological issues etc. I remember us getting an copper in once to discuss drugs and he was absolutely fantastic - we learnt so much that day because here was a guy who knew what he was talking about, not a teacher pretending to understand cocaine. Guest WillsbridgeRed
It's all well and good giving out the pill, but surely STD's are just as much of a problem with youngsters.Clamidia for example, the pill doesn't stop that.Just say no to casual sex, which is what the pill encourages
Guest MaloneFM
Non story?Such as the one on Sky news saying under 1 in 5 kids have recieved threatening text messages from their mates.Which means over 4 out of 5 haven't.

They should have porn stars to explain to the youngsters how to have some control so they can pull out and pop the load over the face, problem solved. You are right though, I think it is as big a problem.I think the points that The Man In Black said were absolutely spot on. When ever we had recovering drug addicts come into school to talk, it always used to stun us. the same needs to be done with this issue, awareness need be pushed through. Dollymarie
I went to a catholic secondary school (and bear in mind this is only 10 years ago) and the grand total of our sex education, was a few pictures labelling parts of the body, and a stern lecture about how we were (under no circumstances) to have sex until we were married. And that was it!Thats why so many girls in my year ended up pregnant no doubt.Dollymarie

Spud55
As long as they consider the health implications then it is a good step, my best mates GF has little chance of having Kids now because she's been on the pill for so long, so it's no substitute for good education. Also the pill and other contraceptive's like it (the injection) do not always work, i know from personal expirence on that one.
