Was reading the article on the main site about League 1 transfer activity and was somewhat surprised to see only us & Chesterfield have received fees for players so far (Heff & Miller and Evatt for them). Free transfers a plenty though.

Meanwhile the likes of Chelski can splash out 25mil on whoever they like and players such as Gerrard & Lampard are offered contracts with monthly salaries that make our entire payroll look like peanuts.

Wigan get promoted to the Prem and can't sign anyone because players don't want to join a team already pencilled in for immediate relegation even though they do have a little money to burn.

Is it time for FIFA to overhaul the transfer system? I've always criticized the salary cap method they use in American sports but thinking about it maybe that is the way to go. It will stop teams like Leeds from spending beyond their means and then falling apart. It will spread the talent a little further than just the top 4 teams because if you are not playing in the C League apparantly you are a nobody team and your best players are better than that.

What is in store for the future? Thoughts anyone? dunno.gif

to be honest in the next 10 years i can see many more league 1 and 2 clubs going into administration, and maybe a few going under. The transfer window will also help to speed up the process as the richer get richer and the poorer get poorer
