maxjak Posted July 11, 2005 Report Share Posted July 11, 2005 Why the hell would LL want to go to Reading, if he stays at the gate for another season and continues to perform to his current level, he can play for City in the Championship after we are promoted or possibly sign for a Premiership club. He is only 20 and their is plenty of time for him to play at a higher level, he would do well to stay and learn from Stewart, rather than play for an ordinary side like Reading. If he has another good season his profile will be higher and attract the attention of more clubs. If we go up great he shows loyalty and gets a crack at champ league (if he signs a new contract of course) If he doesn't or we fail to go up again his contract will be expiring therefore his value will be lower and that will appeal to more clubs. Maybe a one of the better Champ teams or newly promoted Prem team might take a gamble. I imagine he is confident of a repeat of last season (seems a very confident lad) so surely he doesn't see this as his one chance at the 'big time'. I mean Reading?!! Maybe Scoot has also had a word with him and told him what a hole the place is and that he couldn't wait to get out of there and back to Brizzle. You may think why are they going to little Reading and Preston? well little Preston made the playoff final last year and were one game away from Premiership football, Little Wigan are IN the Premiership, and little Reading haven't been out of the top 10 in the Championship since our return in 2002. Wake up call for someone just because those three clubs mentioned don't have the history accolades of say a Leeds Utd or the support, all 3 of us finished above them and Leicester and Wolves last year.Reading have one of the best training facilities in the country, a brand new modern stadium with ever increasing crowds (avearge of 17,000 last season) and are playing at the top end of the Championship. All it needs is a little improvement and we could be in the Premiership, where are Bristol City?Also if Bristol is soo superb and Reading is such a dump nevermind he can still live in Bristol, it's not too far from Reading. On Friday they said they are continuing discussions this week! I personally think if the two clubs can come to some sort of an agreement over the fee then he will join us.
