Hargreaves Lansdown

Is it a conflict of interest for Steve not to use Hargreaves Lansdown ??? Of which he is a partner ???

On the footy front, Bridges would be a great signing.

Bring it on !!

Surely that should be the other way round. It could be argued that it would be a conflict of interests if HL attempted to secure formal links with BCFC, since rivals could argue there was not a level playing field, and SteveL would have to go to great lengths to demonstrate the competition was fair. Can't see that situation being a problem with another financial company. Just goes to show we have a chairman putting the club's interests before his own by embracing an alternative company.

You misunderstand the situation between Directors of a football club and their other business interests. Taking Hargreaves-Lansdown as an example - as you have already raised - this is a separate entity to BCFC. Steve Lansdown makes his money, his livelihood, his earnings, from H-L of which he is not the sole owner / beneficiary.

From his share of these proceeds he has to support his family, maintain his cost of living and then after all that is said and done, maybe spend a bit on himself. Now he has admitted recently that he and his fellow directors have been dipping into their back pockets to keep the club afloat.

What is impossible is to divert funds from H-L into BCFC to buy buy buy. Remember that. It would be like someone asking you to buy a player for the club valued at £100,000 because you have the funds (a house valued at £200,000 for example and a job valued at £20,000pa).

Just because the figures say you have £220,000 available you cannot use it, can you? Figures often mislead which is why so many people wth vested inerests or secret agendas use them to prove a point that isn't provable any other way.
