Tim S
...or should that be Calamity Mis-Fortune?!?I remember when Clayton first emerged into the City team, he seemed very confident and a real potential for the future. I even remember one game a couple of seasons ago when Danny Wilson threw him up front for the last 10 mins of a game and he made a mazy run and shot and was unlucky not to score! Also there must have been a reason why Preston offered £400,000 for him - and an even better reason why we turned it down!!!But what has happened to that player with so much potential who looked a star in the making.... these days my heart sinks if I hear his name on the team sheet and everytime the ball comes near him I get nervous!!!It really does look now that turning that £400k down from Preston was a very very bad move for City. tinman-is-god
I think he has a very bad attitude, is not agressive enough as a central defender (on the pitch that is) and he doesn't seem to understand basic defending. I agree that he looked a good prospect, but if he has wasted it all, he has only one person to blame- himself.
Guest
and an even better reason why we turned it down!!!←Arggggggggggggggg We didn't turn it down. Clayton turned the move down If you ask me, thats a sign of whats wrong with him.. he's quite happy earning his corn in the comfort zone down here than stepping up a level. BrotherErnieFromBarrowGurney
I don't know what we are going to do with him now. Perhaps the girl in the programme office could play sweeper and he could hand out the programmes?
Tim S
I didnt realise he turned it down!!!!Surely that move would have probably doubled his wages??Its a shame we couldnt sell him anyway if he wanted to go or not! Although sadly thats not always how it works.

robins72
Maybe hes playing in the wrong position. I remember a few seasons ago he played up fron due to injuries etc. Maybe we should give him a go at scoring??

I remember a few seasons ago he played up fron due to injuries etc. Maybe we should give him a go at scoring?? He could never be a striker. The one position he could move to is defensive midfielder, but i feel he needs too much time on the ball to be risked in the middle of the park. I've never seen this 'potential' from him that people go on about. he is useless in the air, look dodgy on the deck and gets caught out all the time. sephjnr
Absolutely- his dilly-dallying after the 1st goal almost immediately conceeded a 2nd were it not for Phillips. He has absolutely nothing going for him except his height, which he rarely uses with any effectiveness.
