Admin Maesknoll Red Posted October 25, 2005 Admin Report Share Posted October 25, 2005 The story on the offish site about Benyon states he will travel with the squad, but is unlikely to take part, fair enough, but we are always hearing that our youngsters aren't quite old enough, whereas Rooney, Beckham, Giggs, Owen, Scholes etc. etc. have broken into first teams at a higher level at 17/18.Are City too cautious with their academy prospects? Taunton_City
It should not matter how old you are, if your good enough your old enough!CTID
red as fcuk
To be honest I think it depends what TYPE of player they are. Physicallity is a major part of football these days, perhaps Benyon needs to work on his physique.

downendcity
Yeh, i heve never seen him but he looks small on the picturesI don't remember Michael Owen being 6' 2" and 13 stone when he burst on the scene at 17 years of age.If he's got enough ability and is quick then Benyon is old enough. Comparisons with Owen and Rooney are unfair, as these are pretty unique players, who come along once in a blue moon.

Show Me The Money!
Team confidence also plays a part in when young players are introduced. If a team such as us isn't exactly brimming with confidence is it a good idea to bed a youngster. I feel its better to bring in the youngster when the team is playing better and with alot more confidence
