Underyling Criticism Of Millen ?

Couldn't help but form the view that Tins was critical of Millen on last night's Soccer Night.

Take these two [as accurate as I can remember] quotes :

".... I was told ,that's the team you work with".

".... I needed more experienced help".

He pretty much said too that he was told to give up playing and concentrate on the management side.

Who remembers the Chesterfield game last season when from Tins reaction at the post match press conference saw him none to pleased to be subbed by Millen when City were on a Tinnion inspired role in the closing stages of the match.

Interestingly Pitman said nothing much has changed behind the scenes in the [now] 6 weeks that Johnson has been here.

And therein lies the problem....

Who was and still is our SPECIALIST defensive coach ? MILLEN

What part of the team is particularly shocking ? The defence - conceding 2 goals per game

What's the solution [other than perhaps having a settled team ] - GET RID OF MILLEN !!!

Johnson is, IMHO, a manager out of the Keegan mould - motivator not tactician HE needs a decent coach alongisde him ; City made a big mistake in not getting his assistant at Yeovil: THOMPSON

Anyone think the same ?

There is one constant through last season and so far this one - Millen. Why has no-one been hounding him out of HIS job in the manner that they hounded Tins out. His name has hardly been mentioned on here. I personally was happy with Tins appointment as manager but crushed when he took millen as his assistant. How long will we continue to berate the players for being unfit, useless, drinkers who don't give a stuff for the club when their coach must surely take responsibility for their performance? Why is GJ publicly humiliate the players on a regular basis for their lack of this and lack of that but never mention the coach?

PS i am not stuck in the attic red - just his wife who has listened to him moan every single saturday (except one) for the last 2+ seasons

He has not brought nothing to the team, the defence looks like it's being ignored. GJ has to look at all the coaching staff besides the players, unless he has been told he has to work with what he's got as well? It seems to me our Chairman wants to have the last say on everything. I think GJ will do his thing with the backing of the fans. and yeah MILLEN is a waste.

When Tins walked/was pushed I thought to myself that's Millen gone too. As far as I'm concerned Millen was part of the Tinman regime and was to blame along with Tinman so should have gone. Thompson would have come no doubt had he not got the Yeovil job, he couldn't turn the chance down though could he to be the main man at Yeovil..

Was Tinnion forced to have an assistant who was already at the club?
Exactly, could the board have said to Tins you can have anyone as your number 2 as long as it's Millen. I don't believe for one moment that Millen would have been his number one choice.

I don't think Tinnion was having a go at Millen he was having a go at the board I think he was told to work with the present staff, when you are give a job as an unexperance Manager you can't put too many conditions down. I think everyone including Tinnion can see now he should have had a mentor, some one who has been through it at his side

Riiiggghhttt.....

So.

Tinnion is forced to appoint Millen.

They mess up.

SL searches for a more experienced director - a la Graham Taylor.

Pointless or was Tinnion forced? I think he chose Millen.

when gary has done his report on the club i think there will be changes and millen will be gone.

Millen is GJ's mate, GJ said himself that he and millen regularly talked on the phone. He if was going to get shot of him, surely he would have as soon as he joined BCFC. :dunno:

Can anyone actually offer a reasonable explanation as to what they think Millen does wrong?

Or is it just a load of assumptions again?

Is millen a coach ? and was he a defender? and have we got the best or even a defence that we can call good? is he an assistant manager ? or just a waste of space!

He's an assistant manager not a coach although I'd imagine he coaches.

He's the most qualified coach we have.

Is it automatically the coach's fault when professional players fail to do things I was taught to do when I was 10?

Does the fact that he used to be a defender mean that he's solely responsible for the performance of the back 4, who he doesn't pick and who are rarely the same lineup?

Anyway, I guess you answered my original question for me with a No and Yes respectively.
