fgrsimon
Serious(ish) suggestion. Has anybody ever given thought to a bunch of City and Rovers supporters putting together a new supporters' run team a la AFC Wimbledon or FC United of Manchester? There is an inbuilt culture of failure at both Bristol teams, the product of 100 odd years of underachievement and it's unlikely that either team will provide a team that the city of Bristol deserves, in any of our lifetimes. City and Rovers will never merge full stop. Why not start completely from scratch? A new team could probably get accepted into the Western League to start with with the promise of a couple of 1000 supporters. Whenever you hear about AFC or FCUM it seems the fans are having a whale of a time. There's not even that far to go to catch up with Rovers! Western League to Southern League West to Southern League Prem to Conference South to Conference to League 2. It would have to be more fun than spending Saturday afternoons at AG or the Memorial surely!

Radstock Gas
I think merging the two youth academies could work, then both clubs could choose from a pool of the best local talent. There would be more staff and resourses available to work with the youngsters and with two professional clubs working together, the chances for players to get 1st team experience would be greater.
