Tinmansleftboot
I went to see Watford play Sheffield Wednesday the other weekend and watched Lee Peacock ply his trade. He looked ok, but thats not why I'm posting.Lee PeacockDanny ColesMatt HillTommy DohertyLeroy LitaAll play at a higher level than the current City team. They all left for different reasons, but they all left. It's funny when you look back, just how effective these players were when playing at the Gate. At the time I wondered how some of them got inro the squad, let alone the team. If you look at the rest of "that team" they are all playing for teams above City. Bar poor Tony Thorpe and Christian Roberts.Just how were these guys alowed to leave? How could anyone that knew about football let them go?Never thought I'd think it but I'd welcome Leepy back with open arms at the moment. The only player the current team has that could have got into the team in 2003 is probably Steve Brooker. What does that tell us?
mozo
Just how were these guys alowed to leave? How could anyone that knew about football let them go?One problem for us was changing a manager (Wilson for Tins). You take a risk by doing that. That time it failed and the new boss quite rightly wanted to use players that he felt he could manage. Sadly that meant some established players leaving. If we still had Wilson we would a stable club, but would still be tolerating his flaws.A million and one varied events have combined to leave us in the mire. That's football. keeno85
Peacock- wouldn't sign a new contract so little we could have doneColes- very gifted player but looked dis-interested for the majority of last season. Needed to move onHill- the only way he would sign a new contract was if the clause regarding an offer of £100k was put in place. Again nothing could have been doneDoherty- same as ColesyLita- Steve has already said that he wouldn't have been sold if he hadn't expressed an interest to go. These days if a player wants to go, then it's almost impossible to stop him.

That was nothing to do with leroy wanting to leave Correction: Peacock - Wanted silly money to stay. It was cheaper to pay for Brookers fee and salary than it would have been to keep Peacock. Coles - Prior to the Cardiff shambles he'd already told SteveL that he felt he needed to be playing at a higher level. He then manufactured a move by being a complete arse.
