Bristol Boy
Many people have been slow to pounce on the fact that we are not blessed with great pace throughout the team, especially at the back.Matt Heywood has come in for some stick, however, think about this, did we sign him at 6' 3" and 14st thinking he was quick?Did we bu**ery! Are other League 1 centre halves blessed with "Christieesque" pace? Are they heck, as likeNo, they play in tight, well organised back threes/fours, with midfielders "squeezing play" & protecting them against pace through the middle and not allowing forwards to drift into the hole and turn.Against Bradford, count the number of times Stewart & Brooker receive the ball facing goal-25 yards from goal or less.It won't be many, I'll tell you........If it is, then that'll be worth watching!I still say, our players are not that awful. If they were, then we wouldn't have picked up 9 points out of the first 12 we played for under Johnson. What we need is organisation, sensible, simple tactics and a great deal more confidence & desire and, if nothing else, Johnson has to convince these players that they can do it AND, they have a future at BCFC.Make them play for him and moreover, US!!If he can't motivate the group of players we have now, to at least pick up 9 of the eighteen points we'll play for before Jan, then we've really got a problem on our hands. exiledinwatford
Motivation is the key along with a bit of organisation - all of which breeds confidence. Confidence is the thing that keeps you going when you have gone 1-0 down against the run of play. Our lads start off OK but if we go 1-0 down we look deadbeat.
