Back of the net
The number of potential derbies (Rovers, Swindon, Yeovil, Cheltenham, Torquay, Exeter etc) we could have in League 2 next year, should we get relegated, would hopefully make it an enjoyable year. Therefore why not replace league 1 & 2 with a north and south league?Promotion would be 2 up to the championship from each league with the bottom 4 coming down from the championship. 1 goes down from each league into the conference with 2 up from the conference. Each season the leagues could be juggled to make the north south work (they do it in non league football).Although, it would mean that all teams in both leagues are 1 division away from the conference, all teams will also be 1 league away from the championship. The other pluses being that as there will be loads more local derbies it will produce bigger crowds (more money for clubs) and create better atmosphere's. Also travel costs (hotels, coaches etc) will dramatically reduce for both clubs and fans.Any other positives or negatives?
Tinmansleftboot
A fantastic idea. I've been thinking the same for a while now. It certainly would make more sense. They used to have a third division south / north etc. So why not bring it back? I'd be for that...As long as it means NO MORE TRIPS UP NORTH!!!! tin
But where would you draw the line of what's North or South?Just look at the LDV over recent years. Forest got knocked out this year to Woking in the Southern Section, Hereford play in the Northern section. A few season's ago, 03/04 I think, i remember we played Boston in the 'Southern section' as well. You couldn't get much further away than Bristol than that! BB.
Would be nice to have North and South divisions, but what would happen if 4 Northern or 4 Southern teams were to be bottom 4 of the Championship?
Guest WillsbridgeRed
Aggro would rise, therefor increasing police costs, but would be a great format

red man dan
I understand what your saying, but i for some reason really do not like the idea. I'm not even sure exactly why, which is strange, i just don't. I think it may be the fact that there are so many teams that we have been playing for years that we just would,t be playing anymore. cheshire_red
You're upsetting us northerners! Only time we get to see the City........however, we are traditionally poor oop north! Let's hope that changes a week tomorrow..........or perhaps just decide that Port Vale are midlanders!
