Red Cards Take Off !

What an excellent idea, to hand out to every supporter a big red card :)

From the Dolman - the Atyeo looked mighty impressive, a sea of red, almost like the Kop End :englandsmile4wf:

But, much better, was the effective use of the cards as paper aeroplanes. Excellent.

Hats off to the guy in block F of Dolman, who on watching some good/bad attempts, constructed the orogami concorde and just before the start of the 2nd half launched it, it flew like a bird and landed in the penalty area by the Atyeo :D

 good idea in one sense is the red and white night but a stupid idea to put the red cards in to the hands of idiots, for all the good planes the bad one always seemed to hit people in the back of the head.

how long before some one gets hit in the eye .you will then have a angry fan wanting to punch the plane makers lights out.

if one plane should hit a player then the club would be in trouble with the fa,time to re think about these red cards but not the red and white night :englandsmile4wf:

Because that would mean the people sitting there would have had to contribute to the atmosphere at Ashton Gate.

 If it wasn't for us, the away fans wouldn't have anyone to play with

Blimey, have you ever considered becoming a risk assessor?

I bet you're the sort of person who wants to ban conkers

Besides, everyone is facing the other way to the direction that the planes are being thrown.

p.s. for all forumites information, I have performed a full risk assessment on the Ashton Gate experience and have deemed that when the club use cards to improve atmosphere all fans should be issued with plastic safety goggles. Further to that, all the cards must contain a disclaimer on them warning people that they are not paper airplanes. To make the edges less sharp, they should be made from tissue paper so that they don't cause damage if thrown.

On top of that, the chance of the football going into the crowd and causing injury is far too large, so there are two options - either play with a pretend football (and hope that the players are sporting enough to play properly) or for all fans to be issued with plastic shields further to the goggles.

Fans should also refrain from singing without ear protection (noise level too high) and jumping up and down after a goal.

And most of all, don't eat the food. Way too much risk.

I don't think the groundsman was too impressed by the paper aeroplanes. One hit him from what was either block B of the Dolman or what used to be block A of the GWR, and the groundsman lost it! He was just shouting at him for a bit (I think trying to get him to come and pick the plane up off the pitch) and then from lip reading you could tell he called the paper aeroplane maker a "f-ing wnkr". Must've had a long day trying to keep the game on. Fair play to him.

Also, I was thinking it was rather stupid chucking planes on the pitch. Was hardly going to help Dave Cotterill with his runs down the right wing. There were a couple of times you could see he had to concentrate on dodging the planes on the floor as well as the opposition!

Was surprised how little the stewards did to prevent it as well. I was sat in what used to be block B of the GWR, and down the front there was a bunch of little kids having a whale of a time chucking anything they could find onto the pitch, from empty paper cups to failed paper aeroplanes, and the stewards didn't say anything, except for one, but all he did was point out to the groundsmans mate there was a load of paper aeroplanes on the pitch and that he might want to remove them before the start of the second half!
