It's also possible that Johnson only wanted him as a short-term stop-gap anyway, and wasn't interested in him as a long-term permanent signing. GJ was trying to tie up deals for them both, Noble signed and Hamman put the blocks on the Koskela loan. Pretty sure that's right, so GJ was after both of them at the time. GJ spoke highly of him and the player was aparently devastated when the move fell through at the last minute, so if he's a free agent now then you never know.
