lotusman Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 Fowlers return bears so many similarities to that of Stewarts, long gone for us the hype, hope, expectation for a prodigal son returning to his home city and making his mark.To get any real playing time it has to be in the reserves or preferably on your bike. Our name is now linked with every available third & fourth rate striker available in our division and indeed the one below. One suspects we will never know what Stewart could have contributed to the current set-up.Alas,Benitez I suspect has weighed up his objectives pretty clearly,to motivate all of his other strikers,to have an alternative style striker to complement his current pack .Will Fowler start many games? Doubtful, but for sure Benitez will be smart enough to maximise the use of his squad and throw him into the fray when the time is right for the benefit of the club, player & manager..........and that is where our own little Benitez/Johnson -Fowler/Stewart comparison is so very different.
bcfc seattle Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 I don't think they are comparable at all. Stewert was suppose to come in, score for fun and be the man. Anything Liverpool gets from Fowler is icing on the cake. Sure they hope he can be a bench player and has been a proven finisher/poacher for much of his career but he is not expected to be the man just hopfully a nice low risk cog. At worse it is bringing him in to say good bye correctly.
