Wigan is the place where the famour Uncle Joe's mintballs are made, and famous for having loads of pie factories and shops, which provided food for the thousands of miners in Wigan's coal pits. The last colliery closed at Bickershaw in 1992. Bickershaw village is incidently where the famous Bickershaw Pop Festival took place in 1972, organised by some young upstart named Jeremy Beadle... wonder what happened to him?Wigan's an ok place to be, though on a freezing cold day like today I'd gladly swap with the bloke in the Cayman Islands!
