To be honest that is a worrying trait i have started to see creep in recently. It worked to some extent at s****horpe eg. cotts goal, but vs brentford it was constant long ball by the wing backs and especially Basso, and didn't win a single header. I hope we don't resort to tht game as thats not the city way and our best results came from attractive football on the ground. It is pointless to play the long game with no pace up front. Fair play Mcammon may win the headers but i can't see Brooker picking them up, as most long balls are aimed at him anyway.

It works for teams like Brentford because owusu has both pace and strength, as well as willock being pacey. I am beggining to question, not the management, but the coaching, as long ball games are not going to challenge the likes of bradford and southend due to their tall center backs, eg wetherall and barrett.

We can play through teams when passing on the ground, there is little need to pump long balls as we rarely win them, if the team play to their strengths which is passing to feet, sharp through balls, then we can be difficult to stop.

do we have the players though that are good enough to actually get the ball down and play football

Players in the past few years, Tinnion, Doherty, Coles etc coould actually play football

Orr, Savage, Russell (the new Tinnion apparently), woodman....none of these are actual good at getting the ball down and playing

Noble and Russell definately can, when playing well they are more than capable, wilkshire can when played. In the wallsall game it was a result of our midfield control that we over run them. As for the wing backs better coaching and i'm sure they can improve, our third goal against walsall was the result of a fantastic through ball from Orr, who is improving every game, so in answer to your question yes.

fair comment

Russell can play a bit, I just don't think he has the consistancy to keep performing. As for Wilkshire, I have to say I'm not the biggest fan....he vanishes far to much.

Put Wilkshire in a team doing well, he can be very good....put him in a team thats not doing so well, he doesnt have it in him to take the game by the scruff of the next and influence it
