mozo
The royal family are rubbish. They don't do anything interesting to earn their palace. What stuff could we get them to do that would justify their existence?Tell me!
dagest
I agree, they are rubbish. Historically, I don't mind them. One thing you can say for royalty in the past was that if they had a sqabble they'd at least turn up on the battlefield for a fight. Not like today's politicians who brave talk seems to increase the further they are away from the action.Perhaps, we could create a kind of Royal Zoo. They should be shut in enclosures and people could throw stale buns at them - just for entertainment. I jest of course.

mozo
Well I started this thread as an homage to the Goblinmeister but he hasn't joined in yet.Could the royal family have a Cosby Show style sit-com? Rednready
Think of England as a goldfish bowl, with the rest of the world looking in. We have history, castles, royals, and yes, tourists arrive in their millions every year to suck it up. Seen the tower of London, people lined up to go in year round, Buckingham palace, Blenheim palace, Windsor castle, the list is endless. Overseas glossy magazines especially in the USA, full of royal gossip. TV programmes hosted by Prince Harry world wide about our castles. Moz I've done the caravan scene in bad times, and comfortable waterfronts in good times. I have no agenda, but frankly, the Royals are good for business, the Royal tourist industry creates jobs and millions of pounds for the economy. As individuals it makes no difference what I think, I don't socialise with them. They are a major plus for our booming tourist industry, now thats relevant

WTFiGO!?!
It won't come as any surprise to you to hear that I am not a particular fan of these folk Mozo, just out of principle really. This empire giving up yet more pride in the name of business is something that I've had to grow accustomed too. Not liking the thought of being a subject of Queenie either. (Do you reckon she goes down incidentally ? An interesting if fairly unpleasent thought I'm sure you'll agree.) ****(Oh bo11ox, the Frogs have just scored, had a big U-turn on where I stand on the Frog/Toad dispute btw) Toad of Toad hall was something of a character as well wasn't he? Would have had Kermit in a fight any day.****What they could do to cheer me along my way though is allow Jack Dee to write the Queens' speech, can't really see it happening though sadly.Don't mind young Prince Harold, the nice and controversial lad that he is, reckon he's actually one of the biggest drug smugglers distributing to dealers' in this country. Good lad I always think. Good lad I always think. (apparently we have a history of the second Prince being slightly rebellious.)I must say, I believe that Equality is slightly more important than tourism and gossip columns. As for the 'rebellious' young Harry, he's hardly Pete Doherty is he? If he were the whole monarchy thing would be a lot more interesting. The esablishment would be calling for abolishment, and the youth would be supporting them all the way. Pete Doherty's almost as posh as royalty as it happens, a wannabe working class hero if ever there were one. At least he can sing though, more than can be said for 'Wills & Harry'. Think on royals! I don't buy the 'royalty is good for tourism' argument either. It's probably impossible to quantify, but I believe plenty of tourists would still come here and visit the same old places whether the Royal Family existed or not. However, I think there are far more many things worth getting upset about before them. Oh what the hell, send them all to the guillotine!

barry_manc
When I first heard of Battle Royale I envisioned a film where a countries monarchy (which is just a family like any other, with a few accolades) fight each other till the death. Mr Mosquito
I'm thoroughly sick of the Royals and all the other royalist freeloaders. I understand that the German descended imposter 'God' Queen is currently touring Australia at taxpayer's (our) expense. A few hundred other snob/toff royalist parasites have also joined her entourage at our expense. Other royalist freeloaders include the Avon and Somerset royalist Gestapo Police that seem to be attending BCFC home games for nothing in ever increasing numbers.
