Crutches At City

Good evening fellas,

Just thought i'd check if anyone has taken crutches to ashton gate, and in particular the ateyo stand.

I've recently had a cruciate knee ligament reconstruction and still need a crutch to get about, i've already missed one game...i don't wanna miss another! Given that we are not allowed to take bottles with tops into the ground and they could be construed as a weapon, what chance a crutch?

Anyone have any experience?!

:dunno:

Years ago when i broke my leg and ankle, i phoned the club up to see where i stand with crutches. They told me to go to the office on match day, they let me watch the game for nowt in the disable sheds at the front of the what was the enclosers then. Even gave me a cuppa at half time. Then got a bollocking for trying to hit Paul Randall (gas) with one of the crutches. Didn't like losing to the gas! Try phoning first.

Hi Arny. Since that legend post, the number of old faces, and i mean old, except for mine that have been in contact and who are either married or otherwise is fantastic. Some have good jobs, considering their past, but what lasts is their love for B.C.F.C.

I've seen crutches used as weapons at football a couple of times over the years. And though football-related violence is neither big nor clever - right kids? - I must admit it was quite funny to watch.

The first time, when I was a little nipper, I watched as this wooden crutch was passed by the East Enders over their heads through the crowd until it reached the mob of insurgent cockneys attempting to take liberties on our manor. When it reached the unfortunate gooners or hammers or whoever, I forget now, it paused briefly before rapidly and repeatedly smacking down on the now fast scarpering invaders......looked like some slapstick scene out of Benny Hill or something......ok, you had to be there!

Then years later away at Port Vale, when it all kicked off my broken legged pal was seen cheerfully swinging the crutch at any Vale fan foolish to come near, with a massive grin on his face - and the old bill just let him get on with it. I guess if you look like you might be disabled in some way you can get away with anything. :dunno:

I had an op on my back a year or so ago & couldn't sit down for any length of time. I rang the club to ask whether there was a place I could go & stand on this one occasion. They put me through to their safety steward & he said that they'd sort me out with a place to watch the match. He said that he'd mention my situation to the other stewards before the match so that I could approach any of them & they'd help me out. Sure enough, match day came, I apporached a steward & they escorted me to the A block (Community section) of the Atyeo & let me stand for the duration.

:)
