If Hartlepool Go Down.... Boyd + Konstantopoulos?

If Hartlepool go down do you think we should go in for Adam Boyd and/or Konstantopoulos?

I feel they would both be great additions to our squad, Konstantopoulos is better than both Phillips and Basso in my opinion, and Boyd could be the perfect partner for Stevie Brooker next season.

Good thought, it certainly escaped my notice, and I haven't seen anyone talking about them on here as potential targets recently. But both would be superb here, Konstantopolous won Hartlepool the game one day at Ashton Gate last October, Adam Boyd is always a potent threat, has a great eye for goal, and as you say would be a great partner for Stevie, both have undoubted skill upfront and would scare the crap out of defenders in this league!

Well I think we will definately be signing a keeper this summer and I do rate Konstantopoulos, just have a feeling that we will sign Weale from Yeovil. Cant see us signing a GK that is under contract. As for Boyd, he has struggled with injuries this year and was nothing short of shocking against us last Sat. Lewington is a great shout, good left back and out of contract, however, i understand Norwich are looking at him, which if true, would rule us out.

Boyd hasn't struggled with injuries, he had one long term injury and he's not long recovered from it. That's preferable to someone with a history of 3 week niggles for me. He hasn't been great on the tail end of that injury but he's missing playing alongside Porter (who also had a long term injury). Boyd was a class above last season and with a full pre season behind him, and playing alongside Brooker, I bet he would be next.

Konstantopolodopodos has always looked a strong commanding keeper to me, I'd love to see him signed.

Lewington's had a good year too but Dons fans (both of them) seem to think he'll move up to the Championship.

the name is too long for the team sheet but nice try.

boyd - he's getting old is he not? either that or it seems like he's been around for yonks.

Good shout

would be happy for them to join us

I would also go for (if price is right)

Keogh from chesterfield

Williams from swansea

David Graham from sheff wed

2 Keogh's - ooohh nasty. two smith's is bad enough.

Which is exactly what Steve Lansdown said to me when I asked about Boyd, and will be the reason why he wont be signing for us this summer. FACT.

Not disputing what he said to you but it strikes me as a strange reason not to look at a player. With scans and proper assessments it's possible to tell just how well an injury has healed with a great degree of accuracy, and get specialists opinions of the chances of a recurrence. Then you use insurance to mitigate the risk. Insurance like that can be expensive but usually you're getting the player cheaper than they'd be otherwise?

I'd much rather sign a player fully recovered from one long term injury than a player with a history of 2 weeks out here and there with lots of little niggles.

He said something along the lines of he's had 2 major injuries, maybe you've missed one, and while I agree with you about major injuries being better than niggling ones, if he comes here in his first season, plays 5 games and then gets laid out for God knows how long then we're in trouble, whereas if he plays 3 or 4 games at a time, then misses 5, then comes back, etc. etc., then I'm sure we'd prefer that. Saying that, neither are good stances for a player to have, and it's certainly good in my opinion that we're not looking to sign "Injury Prone" players. :)

I may well have missed one, I thought he'd just been out once for a long time.

I agree it's good they're thinking about how injury prone players are, just think that if Boyd stays fit he's a possible bargain because he really was good enough for the next level. Sounds like they don't want to gamble which is fair enough.

OK so I know this is a very old thread but I was just having a search of the forum.

Boydy had ONE injury last season which was damage to his knee and was expected to be out of action for 6 weeks, the first injury he has had in his career so far.

Unfortunately, when he was operated on he caught an infection in the blood which was very very serious, not only career threatning but life threatening. This knocked his recovery back by months getting treatment for this infection before he could resume any sort of rehab for his knee. When the infection finally cleared up and he could slowly start training to build up his knee again our desperate manager at the time threw him straight into the first team before he was ready meaning he never got chance to recover properly last season.

Now thankfully he is in full pre season training and in the games he has played has looked one of the sharpest and fittest players on the pitch along with Joel Porter who was also out for near enough all of last season too.

Luton keep coming in for Boydy, 500k in January while he was still injured was turned down and now 600k has been turned down at the start of close season as well. To be honest it looks like it would take quite a bit more than that to sell as all the noises coming from the club suggest we want to keep our squad together and make a serious challenge for a quick return. With Boydy and Joel back, and fingers crossed we can keep those two fit now, we stand a real fighting chance of doing just that.

And with reguards Dimi, it seems that Swansea are tracking him as Kenny Jackett was out in Holland for one of our games and was taking a pretty keen interest. Still don't think we will sell like, it would take some serious money considering hes got 2 years left on his deal here.

Well good luck next season - whats your thoughts on a certain Danny Wilson?

Thanks for that, so far so good with Wilson really.

We got two good results in Holalnd on our little tour and he seems just as impressed with the squad as they seem with him at the minute. A problem with Boydy in the past with certain managers has been motivation but so far he has looked very sharp and up for it so Wilson is obvious doing something right with him.

I was happy he was appointed as its the first time in years that we've hired a manager who I've heard of before and I think that is what we need just now. Injuries killed us last year on the scoring stakes, we actually went down conceding less than the previous season. Boyd and Porter out for most the year and Sweeney in and out, the year before those three brought 60 goals to the side.

Thankfully so far, touch wood, we have kept our squad together and the club have insisted there is no need to sell as we want to get back as quick as possible. If we start off well then we could have a cracking season, no doubt about it and that is where Wilson comes in to get them fired up and hungry for it.

Fingers crossed for both our clubs this year.
