'I have just returned home for a few days and am deeply moved by the kind messages posted on the forum regarding my Dad. Although he had suffered with Alzheimer's for a long time his death came as a terrible shock. He was taken ill on Monday morning and passed away less than 12 hours later. He was not only a wonderful father but he was an amazing talent scout. His ability to sport talent in the lower leagues was unprecedented and as the game has changed the likes will never be seen again. He spoke about encounters with Bristol City but I always had the feeling he did not fare too well as he did not speak on the subject for long. He had a very high opinion of John Atyeo. His passing has been extensively reported in the north west media. Tuesday's funeral will be another remarkable occasion, Alan Kennedy called at my Mum's twice this week and he reckons in excess of 20 former Liverpool players will be present.
