FC Jurmala, city's opponents on the tour, lost 7-1 to a team called metalurgs the other day! Does everyone think city will get a few goals on tour? Here's hoping we see the 2 new strikers get a few to help them settle in. I no we don't know to much about the latvian teams but lets have some predictions, just for fun eh!

Skonto 1 City 2

Olympic 0 City 3

FC jurmala 0 City 4

Your turn! ;)

Basso to keep 3 clean sheets, making SP mess his!!

Squad to gel, and the fans who have made the effort to go out to Latvia to enjoy a goal fest, inbetween drinking sessions and making friends with the local ladies!

;)

Jurmala beat the club above them on Saturday 6-1 so I'm not sure how easy it will be but I expect to beat them.

Just to let you all know, they play in Blue and White and are known as the Pirates!!

Corrections:

Jurmala's home kit is all Blue, though the region's flag is blue & white bands.

They are not known as the Pirates, though remarkably a number of their fans sport Blue & White quartered shirts which are an old fan's variant & have no relation to the club shirt. One old codger at Saturday's game also sported a pirate flag, which was given to him by a: "british sailor." Fella & his pals had never heard of the Gas so, as Harry Hill might say: "what are the chances of that happening?"

Jurmala stonked FK Ditton, though truth be told standard was very poor save for No. 10 Kels (? - a recent signing from Metalurgs) who we recommended to Johnson & Millen.

Skola Stadion top venue - bargain beer in the bleechers & dried octopus all round (City take note).

'Cider Hill' - those inebriated inbreds who refuse to pay the 50p admittance & stand outside the ground supporting Jurmala are a credit to supporters worldwide.

Like to say top marks to Johnson who went out of his way to 'talk the talk' with the boys in Riga town, ditto Skuse. Both talked very sensibly about the tour & prospects for the season - could dish the the goss... but that would be breaking confidences...... Also the sociable players at Skonto, thanks fellas.....

Best laugh of the weekend was watching a large group of the players take up occupation in a fancy Riga diner not realising King Gary & his courtiers were only yards away watching their antics. Whilst we eagerly anticipated beers a-go-go & riotous behaviour, as Gary predicted, they players enjoyed an alcohol free evening, eating healthily whilst 'watching the world go by.....' - Murray not unreasonably sustaining 'tennis neck' by the end of it....
