Move Over Hl2, Doom 3 Is Here :d

It would appear that Valve have dropped the biggest bollock of their short time in the gaming industry, with Half-Life 2 delayed till near the end of this year, it has left the door wide open for Id to strike a telling blow to valve by bringing out a game that looks as good and will be about par on the gameplay side.

It would appear that Doom 3 is very, very close to being done, as the prieviews are popping up everywhere and it is expected to go gold in the next couple of weeks meaning review copys are going to be available in mid march and if rumorurs popping up all over the place are to be true it will be released on the 14th of April.

it is still not confirmed, but there are many signs that it is happening, the developers are all putting in 100 hour plus weeks, which is something that they only do when they are crunching the game in the very late stages of development and trying to get everything done in time for the game to go gold. Add to that that the NV40 Nvidias newest core has had it's release inexplicably postponed when it is ready now, to early April, and as ID have been working closely with Nvidia for the entire development process of the game, it is most likely that the new Nvidia cards will ship with doom 3.

If this comes out then hen HL2 could well be so far behind as every developer will have the shiny new Doom 3 engine to work with, Valve could end up loosing a lot of money, Quake 4 will also be out by the time HL2 ships, considering that rougue or whoever is doing quake 4, have the doom 3 engine to work on and start really building the game, so that will be out before HL2.

I think the next 6-8 months will be very, very bad for Valve and sadly ATi as they decided to plump 4 HL2 rather than doom 3 giving Nvidia a massive selling point over them, especially as the NV40 will be one hell of a core for a graphics card.
