Not going to Holmforth (frith?) but previously visited the site of the original Emmerdale Farm - Arncliffe - which has these days reverted to a tiny, sleepy, unspoilt hamlet surrounded by hills. Anyway, i don't go there for the famous T.V. places though 'Herriot Country' is indeed stunning. No, i'll be striding up Malham Cove, possibly Pen y Ghent. and certainly across the traditional colourful and ancient hay meadows of Muker and Keld. Added to that the magnificent limestone pavements at Ingleborough, the countless miles of amazingly constructed traditional dry stone walls all around, the grandeur of Askrigg Moor, Semerwater, the thundering waterfalls of Wensleydale and the enchanting rippling streams of Langstrothsdale and you have the very best countryside that England has to offer.
