Johnson ... A Win, Win If He Does This

Yes, it's another GJ / MS post but my first on the subject having read most of the others.

Who agrees with this :

If Johnson brings back Stewart and he plays well the Ashton Gate spin machine can put out GJ saying he [stewart] needed to go there [Yeovil] to "sort his head out" and he's now done that.

If Stewart comes back [you have to give him 2 games - York / Gillingham] and he plays like a complete numpty then Johnson can justifyably say right you lot shut the **** up , told you I was right now move on

He's in a win, win situation - agree or disagree ?

Johnson doesn't want Stewart back

Stewart doesn't want to come back

Lansdown wants to stop paying for someone who's not in GJ's plans

Russell Slade told Yo-vile fans on Saturday that both Yo-vile and City are already in discussions over the

financial conditions of a permanent transfer - Stewart's already played his last game for City

You have more chance of playing against York than Stewart

Inetersting article in WDP.

http://www.westpress.co.uk/displayNode.jsp...;pNodeId=145803

Key paragraph?

Stewart scored three times in the first two games of Gary Johnson's reign. But after that the manager gave the 33-year-old eight starts and ten substitute outings and was rewarded with just one goal.

Typical WDP/Evil Post article..........following the BCFC official party line every time. Frantically coming up with Statistics to "prove" that it was prudent management to loan a decent player to your Promotion rivals who subsequently provided them with such a boost that he became the catalyst that has seen them on a run culminating with occupancy of the second spot that we so coveted.

On any level the Stewart to Yeovil saga has backfired & and been an embarrasment and as a minimum a distraction that has generated negative feelings amongst supporters concerned with the club's direction - and as a maximum could possibly end with Stewart scoring the goals that see Yeovil promoted ahead of us.

Do the sportwriters get their articles approved by Bristol City before they print anything.

All they ever do is read the Official Site and this Forum and cobble up a "story" most times reproducing almost word for word what is said on "World"

Whatever happened to intelligent journalism? What about putting forward an alternative/ questioning / or original point of view in order to stimulate a discussion or debate about the topic?

So overall Stewart scored 4 goals in 10 starts.

Doesnt seem too bad.

How many did Savage and McMammon go on to score between them?

It is a good article but it posseses one major flaw.

It isn't on just to simply say that the losses of Brooker and Showunmi plus the sale of Cotterill were "unforeseen", as whoever is in charge has to respond to these events.

Clubs have been borrowing players, either temporarily or with fees agreed for January throughout this time, so why couldn't we?

By the time we brought in a Sheffield Wednesday reserve striker, Brooker and Showunmi had missed a total of 17 games.

It also says in effect that Stewart would have been frustrated by the lack of poor service on Saturday because Myrie-Williams was, now anyone who has read my posts will know I'm no Stewart fan, but that also seems a pretty big assumption to make as Stewart wasn't actually out on the pitch, so I don't know how he can assume this.

does it say how many Brooker scored in a team that was not firing in the first half of the season?. In any event that is ancient history MS is now scoring more than our front line and is leading one of our competitors for promotion up the table when he could and should be doing the same for us.

I just think we are a laughing stock. We have our (only?) two forwards out injured for an unknown period, we bring in other teams deadwood, yes deadwood , Wright gave possibly the most inept performance ever by a City player against Doncaster, he was a liability. Our other 'powder puff' options of Williams and Murray are players who either 'won't play' or have 'forgotten how to play' (sorry Scot) and probably the most creative player in the division we loan to our rivals so they go above us. You couldn't make it up if you tried!

Apart from Forest there isn't a decent team in the league even though we lose to most teams away from home. With a bit of planning we could be out of sight, but we're not. On a positive note we are still in the mix despite our continuing heroic cock ups!

Agree however, the point about MS is this:

If SB & ES were fit and playing well, that would mean less pressure on Myrie Williams & Jevons and that we would have impact players on the bench........unlike Saturday. We would be winning and we wouldn't need Stewart or care much how Yeovil were doing.

However, THEY ARE NOT, and Stewart is a far better option than anyone else we have.

Secondly, no business would loan an outstanding employee to their opposition, even if they paid all of his wages. It just wouldn't happen and it's a tantrum, not a tactic. The tantrum's backfired, bigtime and Stewart, not Johnson, has proved a point.

I've seen so many players come and go over the years, I no longer care much who plays providing they are good enough. Both recently and on Saturday, we have been punchless and bereft of ideas in the final third. That can't go on.

You've noticed that as well then

If it's about proving points, who do you think has proved it? Stewart or Johnson.

Spot on

Do the sportwriters get their articles approved by Bristol City before they print anything.

The compliant local media have to seek favour or they are banished/ignored.Take your pick.

All they ever do is read the Official Site and this Forum and cobble up a "story" most times reproducing almost word for word what is said on "World"

Now that's cynical

Whatever happened to intelligent journalism? What about putting forward an alternative/ questioning / or original point of view in order to stimulate a discussion or debate about the topic?

Whattttt? Dissenting opinion? An alternative view? Disagreement?? Heaven Forfend! Thank God for this Forum and the ST.
