Br 1st ol
Which towns/cities in England have more than one league club? If you discount Bristol, which clearly only has ONE, there are 7 towns/cities with more than one league club...name the towns and the clubs.... Taz
Name 5 clubs in England (includes conference). Its and easy one. So why do we have to name these five clubs then?
Guest DrFaustus
London, Liverpool, Birmingham, Manchester, Nottingham, Sheffield and Stoke Wrong. Manchester United do NOT play within the boundaries of the City of Manchester. They play in the Borough of Trafford, the town being Stretford. There is only one team in Manchester. cheshire_red
In that case dear Doctor, neither Potteries club play in Stoke. Sjoke City play in Fenton, Fail play in Burslem. Mr Mosquito
Right cheshire_red - "Yelland's office now" - can't believe his era ended 25 years ago!!!! Blimey we're getting old and past it. The days of top flight BCFC, Norman Hunter and Gerry Gow are also long past. When will the glory years finally return? Here's another bit of trivia - Berwich Rangers are the finest club in the Scottish league. Why?
O_Faz
They play within the boundaries of England? And it's Berwick Better get it right myself hadn't I?
Mr Mosquito
Reply to O_Faz15 Yep, you're right mate. Berwick Rangers are an English club, who due to a terrible misfortune of geographical position, have to play in the Scottish league. Another bit of tricky trivia - Bedminster AFC play in which league division?
O_Faz
Erm, pass
Mr Mosquito
Reply to O_Faz15 Bedminster AFC merged with Bristol City FC in the early 1900's. So technically Bedminster AFC play in English League Div 2 as part of BCFC.
O_Faz
Damn! I was actually thinking it was a trick question, but I wasn't sure
Guest east_dundry_red
London, Liverpool, Birmingham, Manchester, Nottingham, Sheffield and Stoke Stoke only has 1, As far as ive been told Port Vale don't play in stoke.
Taz
Stoke only has 1, As far as ive been told Port Vale don't play in stoke. Think you're right J. I think that when Port Vale and Stoke play they class it as a derby as the two clubs aren't that far apart. Similar to us and say Cardiff?
tompo
If we are being technical about boundaries no clubs play within the City of London. Port Vale play in Burslem which together with Stoke make up the Five Towns or Potteries.
fct
Oh god lets not get technical please. For ease of approximate geography its easy to say Port Vale are a Stoke team and ManUre are a Manchester team. I went to London on sunday and passed Reading's new ground close to the motorway. Is that within Reading's town boundaries?? Also for that point Wimbledon shoudl not be called Wimbledon should they? What should they be called now? Milton Keynes Roundabouts?
