WTFiGO!?!
This has probably been mentioned before but I was in there for the first time since its refurbishment yesterday, firsty, I have to say I was fairly impressed. However, it could have been anywhere in the country other than a few pictures in the corridore. Why not celebrate our existance by giving the place a bit more identity; posters, memorabilia, merchandice etc etc? It could be done whilst retaining its class.£2.70 a pint will also guarantee a moan from me as a matter of preceedure. Luckilly, unless you really are on it, in 15 minutes you only have time for the one.

foghornred
My complaint is about the 'beer' and those multi pour units that they use, I don't know what the fizzy lager tastes like out of them, but the Worthington is horrible, its worse than pouring it out of a can ! I don't bother buying alcohol in there any more.

WTFiGO!?!
Why bother with the expensive Red and White bar anyway? So many real ale watering holes within easy walking distance of Ashton Gate it's a drinking man's heresy to buy the branded dross on offer in the red and White bar.Too much real ale to drink in the Nova Scotia before the Tranmere game, and.......ahhhhhh the relief ....... Only at half time did I bother with the branded dross on offer in the Red and White bar as a trip to the Nova Scotia, a pint, and a trip back all within the space of 15 minutes is pushing it slightly, even with my enthusiasm.Anyway, nobody got anything to say about the original point? Is the indifferent non-response in-keeping with the bland, characterless decour of the place? Also, that 3% job, surely that makes it not Blackthorn, by definition? All I can say is it did hit the spot for me, I saw spirits were available too....I'm impressed ..........that's the spirit (sorry ).
freezer
I meet friends in there before a game, some have kids, some are getting on a bit and like being close to their seats, otherwise I would go to a proper pub before the game. This season it has been tidied up and improved somewhat but there is still room for improvement. It does need to be 'City'd' up. Maybe getting rid of those horrendous plastic, chin drip inducing pint pots would be a good idea. I have never seen any trouble in there and anyway, if you wanted to hurt someone you could still give them a pretty nasty scratch with a broken one.More tables and chairs are needed. And do we really need to hear the blaring, muffled, 'bing bong' safety announcements game after game?Better than last season but could be better still. The club paid for the refurbishement and decided how it it should be decorated without consulting any fans as far as I'm aware. One point worth remembering is that the DEH is only used by large numbers of fans on matchdays and is used on other times used for a variety of events icluding concerts, boxing,as an exam room, a conference hall and so on.Its use is a source of income to the club which they obviously want to maximise. In order to attract that kind of buisness the thinking is that the DEH shouldn't be too 'footbally' as that may deter potenial buisness users.Personally I don't agree with that point of view and have said so but as I already said - its not down to me. Surely if a business wants to book a standard, no-frills plain conference room they are unlikely to come to Ashton Gate anyway. To drive more midweek business to the DEH they would be better giving the place more character and thus attracting businesses who want the novelty of holding an event in a football ground, which is the DEH's USP over other local venues. Guest brislington mod
In reply to the original complaint, supporters club members have often complained about the lack of memerabilia in the r&w bar. They don't put it up because , as mentioned on a previous thread, they would only have to take it down when the rooms are used for other functions. They obviously try to diguise the fact that it's a football ground. Either that or there ashamed of our past!!! It's a shame, as there's some nice piece's we still have which we've kept from our last club.(not that you'd know as you couldn't be bothered to join then

We've fast turned into a dirty whore, as has Football as a whole.Glad there seems to be an agreed consensus on this, even if it is only within the limitations of this thread. Shouldn't the majority of the "customers" get their way?Perhaps you could re-stress this point to the club?

Rocky
Perhaps you could re-stress this point to the club?If this is aimed at me, i'm no spokesman for the s.c. but have been a member for a number of years. Unfortunatly now the club has moved to the dolman we no longer own the building, unlike the old premises, and therefore have no say in what goes up, i.e decor, but perhaps its a small trade off for having more members and larger premises. hopefully in time it will look less drab. Lets for the time being put it down to teething troubles. (although i'm not holding my breath).Chivs was quoting Robbored there matey. However you no doubt saved him the trouble!
