Rob k Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 here is my starting 11 if everyone is fit,WealeOrr Carey Mccombe MccalisterMurray Johnson Noble Russell ShowumniBrookerin my opinion that side has enough goal threat + would be hard to score against, when we have to go to places like Blackpool i think we need to make sure we shut up shop and start winning one nil!!

Guest CGS RED Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 A winning team needs at least 3 blood and guts 90 minute goers, two game busters, a safe but agile keeper, and five good team players in their right positions. Basso Carey Keogh McCombe Betsy Johnson Skuse Noble McAllister Brooker Showumni. Bench : Weale, Fontaine, Artus, Wilson, Andrews. That squad can defend, score goals, has experience, can create goals and has a good blend of youth and experience. I have ommitted players likely to not be with us next season, or frankly don't affect games enough, to use GJ's terminology. Following M'bro, and looking at the squad we are stuck with, I agree with a previous poster, that 3-5-2 will be are best option.

Guest CGS RED Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 My team previously mentioned was " the best to see us through the season, not necessarily B'pool. If its just for B'pool, its GJ's job to rotate the squad and use some good sand/bunker players. Basso Wilson Keogh McCombe Betsy Johnson Skuse Noble Williams Andrews Brooker. Bench : Weale, Fontaine, Artus, Murray, Orr. This uses fresh legs, some speed and creativity. Orr, Artus and Fontaine can all tackle well, and will be handy coming on to defend a lead. This will be a squad/fitness match, with both teams coming off extra time cup matches.

Guest Ron Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 IMO, if everyone was fit...////////////////////Basso///////////////////////////Willson/////Keogh/////McCombe//////WoodmanMurray/////Skuse/////////LJ///////////McAllister////////////////////////////Noble///////////////////////////Brooks/Showunmi////////////////////////
SuperDziek Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Strongest team:BassoWilson, McCombe, Carey, McCallisterBetsy, Skuse, Johnson, MurrayBrooker, ShowunmiRound pegs in square holes as far as the left wing is concerned. After Oldham, would be tempted to put Wilson there, but he's not followed that performance up with anywhere near that level of performance. But he'd give you better quality delivery at right back. After the 2 boro games, Noble is unfortunate not to be in there, but Johnson's greater creativity just shades it. Up top, Brooker (when fit) is our best option, and Showunmi has been an absolute bargain. At the back, Keogh is unlucky, but McCombe and Carey have been great together all season. In goal, Weale has only played less than 1.5 games so its hard to judge whether he's a better option than Basso, so Basso just shades it.In most positions though, we have great strength and depth. Should be handy in the run in! If only everyone was fit at the same time!!As for today, Woodman for McCallister as he's a natural left back, Keogh for Carey, with Jevo and Andrews up top with JMW on the bench? Oh, and Weale in goal.
Roger Red Hat Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Its interesting that most posters on this thread would play Weale instead of Basso, even though he's played only ONE whole match and about 10/15 minutes of another!

Well done lads, must have been some jelly legs towards the finish.
