Just Back from Blackpool

An excellent effort from the lads today, considering the amount of formation changes and flexibility required, players and management take great credit from this result.

Blackpool had the better of the first half forced Basso to 3 or 4 quality saves, while City though playing some neat football lacked that incesive cutting edge.

The goal came slightly against the run of play, Andrews running onto a good through ball before rounding the keeper and slotting home. City then proceeded to match the home team for possession holding the ball up well and defending confortably. Pool came strong in the last 10 minutes with several efforts trickling just wide or looping over the top, but in general I thought the boys held on with a bit to spare.

Gj used a wing back system amongst others while the withdrawl of Johnson, McCombe and Russell saw other postional changes, including Betsy at left wing back, Keogh in midfield, Murray in centre midfield and Orr at centre back, this showed the great diversity and flexibilty to the squad and GJ's tactics.

Basso Some great saves first half, solid

Wilson Had a lot of space should have used it better in my opinion

Keogh Pretty fautless great determination and no less skill

McCombe Not quite as secure as usual. not sure why he was subbed though

Fontaine Solid game again, decent use of the ball

Betsy Very unfamilar position a little lost at times, better late on offensively

Russell Went off early doors injured

Johnson Quite involved in 1st half but then withdrawn

Noble Excellent very rarely mis used the ball

Andrews Ran the channels well, easily best game for club could barely stand at the end

Brooker Made a massive difference with hold up play and threat.

Murray Came on and contributed well in numerous postitions

Woodman Slightly unsure at times, lacks a little self belief

Orr Solid in defence 2nd half.

Finally, god isn't Blackpool a dump in made Weston super Mare look posh !

Thanks for the report.

Good that Brooker got through 90 minutes and that Noble (looks much slimmer do we think) played too.

Basso will no doubt have his distractors but he keeps us in games. Keough looked faultless at Middlesbrough. He is a great prospect .Orr played in the centre of the defence one game kast year and looked the part as I recall.

A welcome 3 points

McCombe seemed to have an injury, didn't see anything at the time, but when he sat on the bench the physio spent a bit of time with him and he left with an ice pack straped to his leg.

Wayne Andrews took an almghty look late on and would have been subbed if we hadn't used 3 subs already.

otherwise spot on,

Blackpool sure is a utter dive though!
