The Sags team

How many of the Sags team would get into our team?

Probably none.

Then why oh why did we struggle to even create a chance over 2 games.

Can only be tactics / selection and that down to GJ.

We played into their hands by playing the game too narrow. In the 1st game Scotty played in the middle and we had no width at all on the right against possibly their worst player Carruthers. Could not believe it in the game yesterday we still had no-one wide right. Ok Murray, Betsy, Wilson were not available but Williams or Andrews could have been on the right.

Spreading the game was the way to stretch the Sags defence but we insisted on trying to play it through the middle and smacking it high towards the middle of their back line.

On the subject of selection

Why was johnson restored to centre midfield. We did perfectly well at Brighton with him dropped?

Why have a centre half in centre midfield with skuce and Russell on the bench?

When needing a goal why end up with top scorers Jevo and Enoch off and the non scoring Smith on the pitch?

problem is tactically.........we played the same way in both legs pretty much as the way we played against Blackpool and Brighton, however........the key in those 2 wins, was the wing back in question were Wilson and Betsy, without those 2 in the JPT we didn't have the attacking winger to do any damage, it was bad enough having those to cup tied, but the 2 most likely replacements for those roles would have been Murray and McAllister.

take those 4 players out of the squad and we are severely lacking in the winger department, for all their efforts Orr and Enoch didn't have the attacking ability to cause the fall backs enough trouble.

player for player there isn't a player at Rovers who I would have in City's first team however, Phillips would do as Cover for Weale and that Nicholson would be decent cover up front
