Elliot Benyon @ Crawley

Just read an interesting article about our very own Elliot Benyon, who is on loan at Crawley Town. He seems to be scoring goals for fun at the minute and apparently gave a man of match display against Brentford in a recent friendly.

I think we should recall him and put him on the bench in case we need to nick a goal at any stage in the run in.

Makes interesting reading.

Didnt he fall out with GJ because of his 'attitude' ?

If he did - he wont play for us ever - will probably end up at Forest Green or Cheltenham.

a myth

Johnson had a pop at Benyon for getting sent off in a pre-season game in lativa for Violent Conduct and told him with that kinda attitude he won't make it in football and if he sorts it out he could be a very good player.

nothing more, nothing less

Fair enough. It does all seem a bit odd though.

Given that we were in the midst of a striker crisis at the time due to injuries I was surprised that Benyon, when coming to the end of his spell at St Albans, would say that Bristol City had not been in touch with him at all during his loan spell and he had no idea where he stood with the club. If Johnson does rate Benyon as one for the future that would look to be poor man management. The only other explanation would seem to me to be that he doesn't rate him for whatever reason.

Benyon scored 3 in just over a couple of hours of football during pre-season and has now scored 9 in 12 full and 4 substitute appearances whilst out on loan. That's a fairly impressive strike rate albeit against admittedly lesser opposition.

Maybe the answer is related to the less widely reported fact that Benyon has managed to pick up 4 yellow cards during those 16 games? I have no idea for what offences they were given but a booking every four games for a striker will inevitably raise some concerns about a player's attitude.

Thought it quite funny how this thread has appeared just before our away game at Chesterfield this season, because Benyon made his one and only appearence in the first 16 away at Saltergate last year! Ain't that funny!

Or perhaps a team of committed individuals who don't believe themselves to be the best thing since sliced bread?

Who knows!

If Benyon's any good then perhaps six months in the Conference might make him think about how much he wants to stay at City? Perhaps he's already burned his bridges?

Only time will tell

what do you mean......another one? MS, SP, MH, MB are the only people he has fallen out with, as for Benyon see the above posting,

the manager has every right to have a go at a player if he gets sent off for violent conduct in a Pre-Season Friendly
