reddogkev Posted April 9, 2007 Report Share Posted April 9, 2007 It seems that alot of the talk on this forum is centered around our lack of goal power at the moment, which is understandable as goals win games.However, lets not overlook the fact that we have become a very hard team to beat, and that is down to our outstanding defence. We all worry about our front two and the different permuatations of the players available to us, but it is clear that second place is going to be secured due to our best two players of the season, McCombe and Carey.These 2 players are the best defenders in this division by a country mile and have been the rocks that our success has been built upon. Our lack of goal threat is nothing new this season, as Brooker has been constantly injured, and we have had to try several different things, i.e introducing JMW upfront, playing Noble in the hole, pushing McCombe up towards the end of games and loaning Wayne Andrews/ Nick Wright / Barry Corr during the season. In short, I feel that with just 5 games left, and the dominating form of McCombe and Carey, we will comfortably secure promotion, even if we have to do it by grinding out more crewe and donnie style 1-0 away wins. THIS SEASON WILL BE REMEMBERED FOR THE HEROICS OF LOUIS CAREY, OTHER THEN GOALSCORING ABILITY! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
